Whether working in the studio or packing up a small travel kit to hit the road, Artists’ Water Colour offers a range of 96 unique colours and a wide array of mediums to help artists alter and enhance the characteristics of their work. The demo artist will cover permanence, colour bias and colour mixing to help you get the most out this challenging and wonderful medium that is loved by amateurs and professionals alike. Each attendee will receive a sample pack of Artists’ Water Colour materials.

Anna Simson…
is a working artist from the San Francisco Bay Area who joined the Winsor & Newton Artist Outreach Program this year. Her resume includes invitational and juried gallery shows, both local to the Bay Area as well as in Mexico and Peru. She received a BA in Art Practice from UC Berkeley in 1998 and an MFA in Painting from the California College of the Arts in San Francisco in 2009.

Jazz Up Your Shoes & Purses with Paint!

2 Tuesdays, April 30th and May 7th ~ 9:30am to 12:30pm

Learn how to Jazz up your shoes or purses – or both! You will learn about the appropriate paints, plus cleaning and sealing products. Basic supplies are provided. You may choose to purchase different colors than are provided, or start your own ‘kit.’

 

Please do bring:brushes if you have them, design ideas, and a pair of leather (or fake leather) or canvas shoes, or a fabric or leather (or fake leather) or canvas handbag. These items can be brand new, gently worn, the wrong color, or even ‘hopeless.’ You will be surprised what you can do with paint!

 

Instructor: Kathleen Mattox is a local watercolor/mixed media artist who has been successful in many local juried art shows. She owns her own gallery/studio/classroom in Sanger, CA and enjoys painting and teaching about mixed media, especially collage

COLOR PENCIL Boot Camp 
for Young Adults & Adults
Bootcamp sample

No drawing experience necessary!

Learn the secrets of pencil rendering and the color theory behind it. On handouts, we will learn how values show 3D-ness and how color should be applied. The students will choose their final project.

Instructor: Rudy Murrietta

earned his BS in Graphic Design at CSU-San Jose. He majored in illustration and painting. For some 30-plus years he has worked as a Graphic Designer-Sketch Artist in the electrical sign and advertising industry. Currently he is semi-retired and teaches as various adult schools. He was the SWA President during 2009-10. Rudy works in various traditional art mediums such as color pencils, oils, and acrylics.

Whimsical, Fanciful Paper Mobiles

2 Tuesdays, May 14th and May 21st  ~  9:30 – 12:30

Large Mobile Whimsical

In this class we will plan and work on a small mobile built on a lampshade frame using thread, dental floss, beads, and a variety of paper pieces.  

 

Please do bring:a lampshade frame, striped, and already spray-painted the color of your choice if you want it painted. An old shade is perfect if you have one, or you might want to use one of those ‘mini-shades’ that clip onto a light bulb in a small lamp. **Separate supply list

Fun Projects for Grand-Parents & Parents

to Teach their Kids!

Tuesday, May 28th  ~ 9:30am to 12:30pm  T-Shirt with Sharpies

In this class:

we will discuss a variety of arts and crafts ideas that you can do with your child or grandchild this summer. The main focus of the morning will be on planning, designing, and making tee shirts with Sharpie markers and rubbing alcohol. We will experiment on “reject” shirts before working on a new shirt. In addition to learning to do the tee shirts, we will learn about painted shoes and purses you can make, journals and sketch books for your child for the summer, and Artist Trading Cards. We will make Artist Trading cards with any time left in the class session on May 28th.

Please do bring or purchase:
any regular Sharpies that you have or a few favorite colors or a set of regular Sharpies from Allards, a couple of white or very light colored t shirts from the thrift store (or old ones from home) to experiment on, plus a new white T-shirt or Childs’ shirt, if desired. Also, scissors and a good glue stick and a pack of baby wipes and any eyedroppers you may have.
