After months of evaluating various content management system (CMS) that will serve as the platform for the Fresno Arts Council and the Fresno Arts Network, I decided to stick with the the open source CMS called Drupal.

Drupal allows us to automate many things. Aside from the in-place editing of contents and self-publishing, Drupal powers the membership and event management features of this site. No other off-the-shelf open source CMS comes close to the maturity of this functionality.

Well, we are so excited with our site that we want to share how we created it; as well as show you the back-end feature of the membership and event management system of Drupal. Socient and the Fresno Arts Council will be sponsoring a 2-hour workshop for non-profit leaders, technologists, marketers, and event planners; detailing our success in using open source software and helpful tips and knowledge on web design and development. An open Q&A session will be held after the workshop.
