The Arts Council is recruiting four (4) artists interested in working in the public schools.
The Fresno Arts Council with the support of the California Arts Council has developed a pilot training program for practicing artists to work the Schools. Critical components of the Artist in Schools training include: 1. developing a working knowledge of California Visual and Performing Arts Standards as well as the new national Common Core Standards for language arts and mathematics; 2.) learning techniques to integrate art into school standards and curriculum; 3.) learning strategies to work with classroom teachers to develop arts lessons; 4.) learning strategies to increase student engagement and participation; 5.) mastering classroom management skills concerning materials and movement; 6.) and creating arts learning assessments.
We are now seeking four (4) practicing artist who would be interested in receiving this training. Since this is a pilot project there will be no charge for this round of training. In the future a fee of $125 will be charged. This unique opportunity will be a Fresno Arts Council Certificate Program that once completed will demonstrate a capacity to work in our public schools at a fee for service.
Training will be Friday, June 7th; 4 to 6 pm, and Sat. June 8th 10 am to 2 pm.
