Programmed to coincide with National Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day, this exhibition titled “One Degree of Separation: A Sisterhood of California Women Artists” will be on view through May 10, 2015. Featuring thirty-five women artists from the Valley and beyond, this show represents a wide spectrum of media and inspirations and is being presented in all four galleries of the cultural center.

Our featured artist will be Terry Ellsworth. He is branching out into a new medium of photography whereby he creatively enhances his images to obscure the obvious and bring about a new perspective on the subject matter. We will also feature work by local artists Valerie Runningwolf,  Louie Quijada, Jason Casey, Claudia Fletcher, Robert Silva, Ellen Bayne, Joanne Tragna Foster and Jason Esquivel. Our resident artists, May Ly, Ashleigh Fleenor and Jon Messer will also be open and showing their work.

This month we’re featuring art from Elias Abalos.  Elias is a member of CMAC and has been doing pyrography (the art of wood burning) for three years and will be displaying his comic book themed series with live musical accompanyment.

Member, Lorraine Peters will exhibit a compelling body of work through the telling of the story which is both an Armenian and Deaf cultural pastime. Together they define the artist and inspire the personal narrative in her work. Events, places and people find their way into her paintings which also include ASL signs, Catholic and Christian symbolism, pop culture, Armenian words, images and icons. In addition, the artist collaborates with Gallery 25 member, Carol Tikijian with an installation called “An Armenian Experience” which examines the past, present, future role and experiences of the Armenian woman.

Brad Polzin is showing a huge selection of his artwork in poster format.
77 different pieces line the walls and feature a broad selection of subject matter and styles
from animals to abstracts, mandalas to flora, design motifs to figurative art and more!

Tower Records is open from 11-7 on Second Saturday ArtHop, with the artist on hand from 3-5pm to answer questions and discuss his work. This exhibit will be on display through April only. Open: Tue-Sat 11am-7pm/ Sun-Mon 12pm-5pm
