The Fresno Arts Council (FAC) is involved with various programs that remain true to its mission: "to enrich peoples lives through the arts." Our programs are designed to help artists and arts organizations directly and to maximize the impact of the arts to the residents of Fresno County.
ArtHop
One of the most active and successful program sponsored by the Fresno Arts Council (FAC) is ArtHop, an arts and culture-focused event fueled by the growing interest in the arts in Fresno. ArtHop occurs the first and third Thursday of each month (year around) from 5-8 p.m. Artists, museums, studios, galleries and other venues open their exhibition spaces to the public to view art, meet the artists, and enjoy the reception and music, at no charge.
Public Art
The County of Fresno has designated the Fresno Arts Council as their official Art Consultant for the 1% for public art policy approved in August 2007. FAC will meet with County Departments to review capital improvement projects where public art is appropriate and suggest needs, send out Requests for Proposals (RFP), screen the applicants and, with input from the County, property owners and a panel of jurors, choose the art.
Grants and Workshops
The Fresno Arts Council's Community Enrichment Program (CEP) awards non-profit organizations in the City of Fresno whose primary purpose is to provide for the general enlightenment and entertainment of the public through the production, presentation, exhibition, advancement or preservation of art, music, theater, dance, history, literature, physical sciences, natural sciences, or natural history.
Connecting the Community
We forge relationships with artists and organizations within the City and County of Fresno and throughout the State of California. We connect and provide network services to the public when it pertains to the arts. We conduct workshops, facilitate the ArtHop program, and provide artists meeting spaces in our office as part of our efforts to connect with the community.
Technical Assistance
The Fresno Arts Council schedules technical assistance workshops for non-profit organizations interested in applying for the Community Enrichment Program grants and for other grants when appropriate. Come by and visit us at 1245 Van Ness Ave. in Downtown Fresno (between Frenso and Merced streets); or call (559) 237-9734. We are open Monday through Thursday from 9-5 p.m. and closed on Friday.
